After 2 Years of Talking, We Finally Met

Talking and teleworking for two consecutive years and it finally happened.

The Unancor team has met in person!

And since I still have the emotions running high and I know there are companies that hesitate to present their stand at an event in their sector, I have decided to share our experience at eShow Barcelona 2018 on our blog.

I won't ramble too much, let's get to it.

Who Makes Up the Unancor Team?

Before starting my story, and that of my colleagues, I would like to clarify who the people currently making up the Unancor team:

Javier Cabot

• Position in the company: management of tricky situations.
• Complains that information comes to him filtered.
• Always seeks efficiency (which means he often confuses us by changing his mind many times)
• Has a crazy dog.

David Carrasco

• Position in the company: management of tricky situations squared.
• If he doesn't sleep well, he gets grumpy as the day goes on.
• Tries to take vacations but never succeeds.
• 100% Healthy, without preservatives or colorants.

Pablo Hernández

• Position in the company: Official giver of Manchego cheeses.
• Is one of those who signs up for the gym but then doesn't go.
• Sells you a pen cap if necessary.
• Wants to move out of Albacete, but a strange force prevents him.

Nuria Cámaras

• Position in the company: CM always on the verge of dismissal.
• Also pays for the gym and then doesn't go.
• Plans to go to Thailand to stop putting up with the rest.
• Writes nonsensical newsletters and sells them as "modern copy"

Emilio García

• Position in the company: Something about SEO. Nobody knows for sure.
• Is 20 years old and already knows more SEO than many professional consultants.
• Tends to get lost easily.
• Has tried Santiago cake.

Alexandra González

• Position in the company: receives emails and responds without shouting or getting angry.
• Works under the watchful eye of David, which is no small feat.
• Drinks soy milk and endures our awkward questions.
• Joined recently, still sane.

eShow Barcelona 2018, the Meeting Place

Well, the truth is that the guys got together a day earlier, but since Pablo says I like to be the center of attention, and I arrived last at eShow, I consider it the meeting point.

Nerves and more nerves until that moment arrived.

I already get nervous when I have to take an AVE train. And Emilio, don't even get me started. I think he arrives 2 hours early to the platform to not miss his train. That's the level.

Anyway, I arrived at eShow and there was the Unancor team. All smiling, blissfully unaware of the foot pain they would have 48 hours later.

The truth is that a fair of this type is really tough. It's many hours on your feet, repeating the same speech over and over to each person who approaches, and let's be honest, it can get very boring.

But not in our case!

If Emilio wasn't making a joke, someone else would take care of it.

We laughed a lot, both inside and outside the stand, and just for that, the foot pain associated with the event was worth it.

Well, that and because we lost weight during the fair. Who needs a gym when you have a stand?

Noteworthy Anecdotes

• The first one hits hard. First day, Emilio's presentation at 10:15 AM starts with: Hello, good afternoon everyone! Contained laughter, it was just the beginning.
• The hostesses handing out Unancor brochures were so, so, so attractive and such spammers that the eShow organizers came to reprimand us and told us they couldn't stand at the entrance. They weren't missing a visitor and had everyone at the entrance stands upset, who, of course, had paid a fortune to be there. Our girls are the best!
• We were giving away sponsored notes in El Digital de Asturias, but Emilio is cooler and gave them away in the Digital de Aragón, which has a price 8 times higher. Long live wine and Emilio's confusions!
• Most repeated phrase: My feet hurt!
• David's fridge and his salad at 6 PM.
• SEO Clinic, that event for which we won a ticket in a Twitter contest, but we only attended one presentation.
• Interested people coming to the stand and saying: I want to be first on Google. Do you do this?
• Santiago cake.
• Feminist discussions at the last dinner.

What Have We Learned? Was It Useful for the Company?

Absolutely. We still don't have numerical data on profitability, but the experience has been very positive for the employees and for the company's visibility:

• We have attracted new clients interested in link building and online visibility.
• The team has eliminated fears and shyness when facing in-person meetings with clients.
• We have gathered very valuable feedback about opinions on Unancor and press links.
• Getting to know each other and being together for 2 days has generated more engagement towards the company and strengthened our bonds.
• And the best part: meeting all the people who stopped by the stand to greet us. Special mention to Iván García, Sico de Andrés, and Álvaro Lozano. You are awesome!

What Was the Best Part of eShow Barcelona 2018?

Meeting each other, without a doubt.

And now I speak on an individual level. I can guarantee that the people behind the Unancor team may have many mental quirks (which they do) but they are all hard workers, experts in their field, and really good people. Some have even discovered their commercial side and now know they could make a living selling vacuum cleaners. Thanks eShow, although that's not my case!
