The questions that most people ask when creating a blog are:
How do I get more web traffic to my site?
How do I increase visits to my page if nobody knows me, not even Perry?
And to answer these questions, there are hundreds and hundreds of tutorials and guides written circulating on the Internet. However, we have gathered the 123 best ways to get more web traffic.
Of course, I am not going to detail them all to the millimeter. I will give some general ideas so that, if you think that method can help you, you can search on Google later and delve into that technique.
So this list should serve you as a starting point, never as a destination. That said… it’s the best starting point you’re going to have!
Getting web traffic via Social Media
Here are some ways to get traffic from social networks. As you will see, it’s an opportunity that goes beyond Twitter and Facebook… although we mention them too!
-
Make use of Quora
For this technique, you basically have to create an account on Quora with a link to your website or your articles, and then start posting answers to the questions that people have.

If it doesn’t seem too spammy and is relevant when answering, you can include your link in the answer itself, but don’t do it often (you know how these communities are).
Remember that for this SEO strategy to work in the long term, you must provide value and follow topics related to your blog’s theme.
It should be noted that Quora works better for websites in English, but it can also be useful in Spanish. You will simply have to answer in English, link to your content in Spanish, and say that you translated it to provide the answer.
You won’t get results as good as if your site were in English, but it’s not bad.
-
Share your articles on social media
Yes, this way of getting traffic is obvious and well-known, but it’s worth reminding those who think that traffic to the blog comes alone and by magic.
-
Create a Facebook page
Another way to take advantage of Facebook is by creating a page for your brand (that is, for your blog’s brand). From that page, you can link directly to your blog, and later, you can post your different contents on the Facebook page.
This will help people stay updated on how you are updating your content, if everything is fine regarding your brand, and, if you consider it necessary, you can carry out Facebook Ads campaigns.
Additionally, it can also help you rank better in Google’s rankings, as it is another indicator that you have a presence online, and that gives Google the idea that you are not a spammy website, but that you have content.
-
Link to your blog from your Twitter profile
In your BIO on Twitter, there is a space to place your website. You can use it, but the smarter option is not that. Professionals place their link in the BIO itself, where you can write.
Why? Because many websites are dedicated to scraping those BIOs (for example, Klout), and when they do, they don’t always place the no-follow attribute on the links. So, if you place the link in the Website area, you will get no-follow links, but if you place it in the BIO area itself, you will receive do-follow links.
You can also use other more “black” techniques to get expired Twitter accounts with authority.
-
Link to your blog from your Instagram profile
Just like in the previous case, you should use the option to link from Instagram. Moreover, that place Instagram gives you is your only opportunity to place your link within that social network, so you should use it.
-
Link to your blog from your “Status” on Skype
Skype is not a social network per se, but as it allows you to have contacts and also allows you to place Status lines, you can make some use of this messaging program by placing your blog address there.
-
Link to your blog from your Pinterest profile
The same as in the previous cases, but using Pinterest… If you are on this social network, of course.
-
Appear on a Podcast talking about your niche
Look for podcasts that talk about topics similar to what you cover, and get in touch with the people who run them. They will likely be delighted to have you appear and help them generate content.
Remember to mention your website while doing the interview, and provide value so that other podcasters are interested in inviting you to their podcasts and thus create a snowball effect that gives you traffic, popularity, and authority in your sector.
-
Start a podcast
Of course, instead of appearing on other podcasts, you can create your own podcast. This requires a bit more work, but in the long run, it will allow you to have a greater amount of traffic, better segmented, and you will also be generating content.

At this point, the hardest part will be finding interesting people to appear on your podcast (after all, it’s newly created). However, you can grow little by little and increase the level of guests as you also increase your authority.
As when you start a blog, you should know that it’s a job that starts with few results and that, in the long run, generates benefits. So, if you’re not willing to work long-term, it’s better not to focus on this option and limit yourself to appearing on other podcasts.
-
Publish videos on YouTube
Depending on the sector you are in, videos on YouTube can be a very interesting option. Videos are very attractive content to publish on your blog, but they also allow you to be known by people who otherwise wouldn’t know you.
After all, people spend a lot of time on YouTube, and it’s likely that many people end up reaching your videos before your blog articles… and from YouTube they may end up visiting your blog!
-
Share your photos on Flickr and similar pages
All the photographs you take and use on your blog, which are original, can be uploaded to Flickr and similar pages, accompanied by a nice link (sometimes dofollow, sometimes nofollow), which will bring you additional traffic.
Also, keep in mind that photographs published on such sites tend to rank quite well on Google, so you can achieve a good amount of traffic if you upload interesting images.
-
Link to your blog from your Vine profile
Do you have a Vine profile? Then it wouldn’t hurt to link to your blog from it. It’s not the most used social network in the world, but it has good growth and there are interesting people on it, so don’t hesitate to take advantage of the opportunity.
-
Use GIFs on Vine to promote videos
If you have published videos on YouTube and want to take advantage of getting people to visit your blog to see the video (or directly to YouTube), you can use an animated GIF on Vine to show a preview, and then they will go to the full video.
-
Link to your blog from your LinkedIn profile
Add a link to your website or your company from your LinkedIn profile. It’s part of your professional experience, so it doesn’t hurt to include it there. It will allow you to get traffic and, in addition, job opportunities.
-
Publish your content in LinkedIn groups
If you are in LinkedIn groups related to the theme of your website or blog, it’s a good idea to occasionally publish your own articles, adding a link. However, remember that you shouldn’t be too spammy… that group is not just yours!

Don’t forget that many of the people in those groups are happy to receive new information about those topics, so as long as you offer quality content and are not abusive, you will be collaborating and making that group function well.
-
Link to your blog from your GitHub profile
If you have no idea what GitHub is, you can skip this point. However, if you are a developer or programmer and have an account on GitHub, you can also link from your SEO-Canteo profile to your website.
-
Link to your blog from other niche social networks
There are countless social networks. We have limited ourselves to pointing out the most well-known, but there are many others that are smaller, which are niche social networks.
If you are on any of those social networks, don’t hesitate to link to your own website. Also, in many of these social networks, as they are less optimized, outgoing links, depending on where they are placed, are dofollow.
-
Use Buffer to promote your content multiple times
Many people make the mistake of promoting their content only once on their social networks, and there are a large number of studies that show that this is a really poor strategy.
If you want to get the best results, you should use Buffer (or another similar application), so that your content is published periodically on your different social networks, so you can get traffic from older content consistently.
-
Use Edgar to publish your content more and more times
If Buffer is not enough for you, there is another application called Edgar, which is basically dedicated to reposting your older content on your social networks. It’s an ideal complement to Buffer and, between the two applications, you will achieve a much greater amount of traffic.
-
Although Google+ is not a very successful social network, the truth is that the entire Google universe is connected, and what happens on Google+ is seen in Gmail, and then on YouTube… It’s a huge web that is worth taking advantage of.
Get used to publishing the content you generate
on Google+, as, in the long run, it’s in your interest to have a profile on this social network with some authority, so that Google loves you and considers you in its other tools.
-
Update your Google+ profile with a link to your site
As with other social networks, take advantage of the opportunity to place a link in your Google+ profile. Don’t waste the opportunity to place the link in your content.
-
Share your content in Google+ communities
As was the case with LinkedIn groups, people are in Google+ groups because they are interested in getting information about certain topics. So, if you are part of a group where your articles may be of interest, don’t hesitate to share them.
That said, as with LinkedIn, avoid being too abusive, and don’t be spammy. Share little and quality content, and you will get better results than if you share a lot of junk.
-
If your articles tend to have strong visual content, it’s advisable to share them on Pinterest as well, taking the opportunity to add some hashtags so that people can identify them more easily.
Of course, remember to add a link to your site.
-
Share your articles on Snapchat
Snapchat is not a network specifically designed to promote written content, but you can do it if you are original enough. Basically, you should encourage people to follow you on Snapchat.
If you manage to create a suitable community, you could then take a few snaps of the content you’ve generated and share it with your community. This way, they will receive the information that you have new content through an unusual channel.
-
Share your articles on Instagram
It’s evident that you cannot share an entire article on Instagram, but you can take relevant ideas or a paragraph worth sharing, and use Canva to create an interesting image with that text.

Simply, sign it with your blog’s URL, and people will come to see the new content.
-
Do a cross-promotion on Instagram
Look for an account that has a similar profile to yours, with a similar audience and where the content you publish is similar, and offer the possibility for you to share some of their content (branded with the URL of their blog), and they do the same with yours.
It’s like guest posting, but on social media. This way, both of you can take advantage of each other’s audience, and both audiences win because they get to know a new influencer in the topics they like.
-
Encourage sharing content via WhatsApp
Referred traffic from WhatsApp is highly undervalued, but the truth is that it works incredibly well. Don’t miss the opportunity to place a button to share your content via WhatsApp. I assure you that the result is worth it and will be.
-
Create SlideShares of your content
Creating a few slides for SlideShare takes very little time and effort, so when you have good content, you should consider creating a page on SlideShare and sharing the basic ideas, adding a link to your article.
This way, people browsing SlideShare looking for content related to what you offer will be able to see your slides and, in the process, visit the blog to delve deeper.
Also… Content on SlideShare ranks very well on Google!
-
Create sessions on Periscope
Periscope, Twitter’s new app, allows you to create videos where your followers can ask you questions, achieving brutal engagement with them. If you already have an interesting community, you can take advantage of those conversations to recommend articles.
-
Create infographics
Yes, infographics are useful for getting visits. Creating a visually appealing infographic with useful information, signed with your website URL, can bring you a huge amount of traffic if it goes viral. We recommend services like easel.ly to create them more professionally.
Additionally, if the infographic succeeds on social media and you promote it, you can get several links, which never hurts.
-
Add social media sharing buttons
The typical trick that almost everyone uses, but it’s worth reminding those who are still not using it. Remember that the buttons, the more varied they are, the better they work… but without saturating!
-
Notify the people you mention
If you mention a person or a brand in an article, you lose nothing by contacting that person. Many of them won’t pay you any attention, but many others, especially influencers (who have an ego that doesn’t fit in their chest) will be delighted to share your content on their networks or on their own blog.
-
Getting traffic in communities
In a sense, we have already mentioned something similar in the previous list when we talked about Google+ and LinkedIn groups. However, this time we refer more to those larger communities. In short, it’s better that you see it directly with some examples.
By the way, to avoid having to mention it in each specific point: Don’t be spammy. Participate in the communities and be just another user, and only share your content when you have something really valuable to contribute. Trust me, you will do better.
-
Publish your content in Yahoo Groups
The Yahoo groups are communities of people connected by common tastes, interests, and more. If you are part of those communities, you can occasionally share some of your articles, adding a link that will allow you to get an extra traffic boost.
-
Facebook Groups
The Facebook groups are quite popular and full of people, and, best of all, properly categorized by tastes and interests. They also have the advantage of not being pages, so there is no brand behind benefiting from the activity uniquely.
However, this does not mean that communities don’t have rules. They do. Be careful and try to follow them, so they don’t have reasons to expel you.
-
Create your own Facebook group
Another interesting option, if you don’t like the rules of existing Facebook groups, is to form your own group. The problem here is that you will have to attract new users who are already present in other groups.
However, if you succeed, you won’t have any problems managing the group and the content that appears there. In fact, you can be a spammer, since, after all, the people there already know what you do (another thing is that you achieve good results).
-
Publish in Google Groups.
It basically works the same as publishing in Yahoo Groups, so I won’t stop to explain it again.
-
Publish in Slack Teams
Slack is not a community widely used in Spain, but the truth is that it has quite a bit of activity outside our borders. Just like in Quora, you can choose to share your content with the URL to your blog, but providing an answer in English.
-
Create a Slack Team
As was the case with Facebook, the best strategy for you may not be to be part of an existing Slack Team, but to create a new one with your own rules. However, since it is not a very active community in Spanish, for most people this option is not the most advisable.
-
Publish your content in specialized forums
Internet forums are not in their best moment, but the truth is that there are still a large number of them, and many people use them to exchange opinions and information related to topics they are interested in.
It wouldn’t be bad for you to be part of those forums, as long as they are related to your theme, and become an authoritative user within it (after all, you are supposed to be an expert on the subject).

This way of “parasitizing” the audience of an entire forum is a long-term strategy, since, at first, you will be the new kid on the block. But when you achieve it, you will have a perfect place to place links, receive traffic, and gain subscribers and sales.
-
Publish your content on Reddit
Reddit is the natural evolution of forums. It’s a bit more complicated, but it’s an ideal place to publish your content. If you want to make the most of it, look for subreddits related to your theme, and participate actively in them. Occasionally, publish some of your content with a link to your site.
-
Create a subreddit on Reddit
If you have some kind of community with which you can create a new subreddit, don’t hesitate to do it. Create it to discuss topics concerning your site, your community, or the theme of your blog.
The advantage of having your own subreddit is that no one can accuse or penalize you if you are too spammy. Still, I don’t recommend that you be… because people will get tired of it!
-
Share your product on Product Hunt
If you have some kind of product, like a game or an app, you can submit it to Product Hunt, which is an American content aggregator that reviews different types of products that come to market daily.
As is often the case, it’s an English aggregator, so this option is especially recommended for those products that do not depend on language (for example, promoting a book might be more complicated).
-
Send your content to Content Aggregators
The content aggregators, such as Menéame, are a very interesting way to get traffic. The problem is that Menéame and most content aggregators in Spanish have little traffic, are very generalist, and are also captured by organized groups to ensure that only the content of interest to a few gets promoted.
On the other hand, there are English content aggregators, which are much more thematically segmented, not captured by organized groups, and receive more traffic. The problem, obviously, is that they are in English.
You can use both (in the case of English, providing a brief explanation in English of your content, and linking to your content in Spanish - warning that it’s in Spanish). You won’t make it to the front page, but it can yield good results.
-
Getting traffic via Email
Email is still an opportunity to get traffic, and it wouldn’t be smart to miss the chance to get a few visits because we think it’s an outdated medium. Below, we show you some of the best techniques to make the most of your email when it comes to getting traffic.
-
Update your email signature
Your personal email is a good way to get traffic, and it’s almost always forgotten. You just have to change the signature you use in your personal email and add the link to your website. Voilà! You now have some additional visits with hardly any effort.
-
Update your company email signature.
The same as in the previous case, but with your company’s email. If you have several employees and they all use company emails, you can update all the emails and add the link to your website.
Of course, in some companies, this doesn’t look good, but if your company has a lot to do with you and your website too, it shouldn’t be problematic (in fact, it could be positive).
-
Add an Autoresponder with a link to your website
If you are going to be away for holidays for some time, it might be a smart idea to use an Autoresponder notifying that you are not available, but leaving a link to your website so they can see your latest published content.
EXTRA TRICK: Getting traffic from the press (and public relations)
The press can also be a very good way to get traffic. In fact, it can be one of the best ways, considering that many digital newspapers receive thousands of daily visits.

Unancor can help you get very good links in authoritative digital media that will bring large amounts of traffic to your website.
-
Notify other bloggers and influencers about your content or product
The first step, and the most obvious, is to try to share your content on your social networks. However, when you want to take a step further, because you are aware that you have very good content, the smartest thing is to contact professional bloggers and influencers.
For this, the most comfortable and useful is email. There are many techniques to get those bloggers and influencers to fall into your web and promote and link you, but we don’t have time to explain it here. Just know that this possibility exists!
-
Be listed in Google News
Being part of Google News is not easy. However, if your website has characteristics of an online newspaper or something similar, you can try your luck and be listed as one of the digital newspapers that Google News promotes.
To achieve this, you will need to change some characteristics of your articles and structure them in a way that fits the rules Google News has, but if you succeed, you will get a truly impressive amount of traffic.
-
Use HARO to appear in journalistic articles
HARO is an American system that allows people to publish information about their projects. Subsequently, journalists can search this website for that information, categorized by topic, and if they find something interesting, they can inform themselves before contacting the person in question.
If you have a product or a website that is standing out (or is likely to do so), it may be advisable to create that information in English and publish it on HARO. You might get linked from a newspaper across the ocean!
-
Go to the radio
Of course, this is not easy. However, it’s not as difficult as many people might think at first. The truth is that there are numerous radio stations that only operate a few kilometers away. Local radios, after all.
If you pass by and mention that you can provide something interesting about the theme of your blog (whatever it may be), they might invite you to participate in a program occasionally, and thus promote your website.
-
Go to television
The same as above. However, it is evident that, in the case of television, the process is somewhat more complicated. However, if you succeed, the effect is much more beneficial, as you not only get that mention, but you can promote continuously (for example, with a t-shirt).
Getting traffic… in person!
Well, not exactly in person, but rather, using your person. As you will see, using your own person, you can achieve a large amount of traffic easily. Here’s how:
-
Create business cards with links
If you have a business or contact card, and the business you usually engage in is related to the content of your website, don’t hesitate to include the link on the card. After all, you will allow the client to know more about you and how you like to work and dedicate yourself to the sector.
If you want to take it to the extreme and be a bit more aggressive, you can remove your email and phone number from the card, so that the only way the client can contact you is through your website.
This last point can be counterproductive in some cases, but in others, it represents a good increase in traffic without decreasing the number of clients you work with.
-
Link to your website from places where you have a presence (online or offline)
If you are a person who has an offline presence, you can promote from those places, so that people who go to them know where to find you online. For example, if you are a writer and go to a book signing, you can place your URL on a sign near the signing table.
-
Participate in conferences and events (as a speaker and as a sponsor)
This point could have been divided into two, but one is also fine. The first way to take advantage of your physical presence at a conference is, obviously, by giving the conference on your theme.
From there you can do good promotion, both in the presentation, in the conclusion, and throughout the conference (that said, remembering that the goal is to provide value, not to promote continuously).
On the other hand, you can also have a presence at the conference by letting someone else give it, but being there as a sponsor, so that your brand appears behind the speaker, or something similar.
To do this, contact the conference organizer, and propose that you can make a small payment to appear in that way (or whatever comes to mind).
-
Create a workshop related to your theme
Depending on your theme, you can create a workshop where a specific activity is explained practically. In fact, you don’t have to be the one (or at least not just you) giving that workshop, just the one who organizes it.
For example, if you have a website dedicated to graphic design, you could look for a graphic designer in your area, and both of you could give the workshop where some basic design principles are taught. This way you have less work, but still gain promotion.
-
Create a conference related to your theme
If there are no conferences in your area to carry out point 54, you can always be the one to organize the conferences, either by giving it yourself or inviting someone.
The advantage of doing this is that you don’t have to pay anyone to place the advertising behind the speaker.
-
Use stickers for your tech products
The tech products you use, such as your laptop or your tablet, are part of your work and, moreover, a good way to advertise. For example, imagine you are interviewed on television. If you have the tablet on the table while being interviewed, you can have a sticker with the URL of your website (or the name of your brand).
Free advertising to hundreds or thousands of people during the duration of the interview!
-
Use flyers
If you have a physical presence somewhere, whether because, as in the previous example, you are a writer, or a speaker, or because you have a physical store, you can opt to print a few flyers.
Flyers have the advantage that you don’t have to wait for people to remember the name of your brand to search for it when they get home. They simply take the flyer, and when they get home, they can check what your website is about comfortably and easily.
-
Participate in Meetups
Meetup is an app that allows people to organize different types of meetings on particular topics. It doesn’t have much use outside the Anglo-Saxon world, but if you live in a capital, you might find some.

On the other hand, if you don’t find Meetups, you can create regular meetings through other means, where topics of interest within your sector are discussed. This is a fantastic way to gain not only traffic but also a good network of contacts.
-
Start a Meetup
Following on from the previous point, if there is no Meetup in your area or sector, that doesn’t mean there aren’t people registered in the app. You can create your Meetup and wait for the necessary people to join.
-
Create t-shirts and give them away
T-shirts are a very good way to advertise. That said, you have to be smart when carrying out this strategy. After all, nobody is interested in wearing a t-shirt that advertises a website (unless you want the t-shirt to paint the house and not stain the ones you really like).
An intelligent way to do this is with a design so fun that the fact that a web address appears below that design is an acceptable price to pay for enjoying such a fun t-shirt.
-
Send content to teachers for their students
A last very interesting way to promote your website from a physical presence is by sharing content with teachers from different schools, so they can use it with their students.
Of course, this technique doesn’t work with any type of content, but, for example, imagine you have an economics blog… Why not share your content with those teachers, so they can use it in their classes?
If they are properly branded, you will receive a good amount of visits and probably very loyal users and followers.
Getting traffic by improving your website
It’s good to get traffic with the different techniques we are giving, but it’s much better to improve your website and, in this way, ensure that the traffic you receive grows day by day inevitably. Keep reading and discover how.
-
Grow your subscriber list
Of course, the first step in optimizing your website to gain traffic is to improve your subscriber list, making it grow. A good subscriber list will help you get recurring traffic in a way you never imagined.
-
Offer some cool gift
Another way to get a good amount of traffic is through a contest or a giveaway. That is, offering a gift. It can be any type of gift related to your theme, but, obviously, the better it is, the more interest people will have in participating.
That said, I don’t recommend it to be a too generic gift, like an iPhone. The best is that it is a gift aimed at the specific niche you occupy. This way, you will have a greater chance that, once the contest is over, the participants will continue to be regular readers of your blog.
-
Use Snip.ly to receive traffic
Snip.ly is a very interesting link shortener. What it does is that when people visit the link you are sharing, it adds a new layer that appears as a CTA at the bottom of the screen.
In that CTA, you can add whatever information you want, and a button to another URL. This way, you can direct traffic to your website when you are guest posting, even when the other person hasn’t allowed you to place a link in the content.
-
Offer a free product
Offering a free product can be similar to offering a gift, but it’s not exactly the same. The gift is offered in a contest or giveaway for people to compete for it.
The free product is offered to all people equally, without competition. A good example of a free product is an eBook that you exchange with the person who subscribes to your newsletter, for example.
-
Do a product exchange in your sector
If you are dedicated to publishing some type of product, service, or infoproduct, you can take advantage of the fact that there are other people doing the same to try to achieve better results.
To do this, simply look for a person in your sector who also promotes their own products or services, and tell them that, if they want, you can promote their product, in exchange for them doing the same with yours.
This way, you will not only achieve a new amount of traffic, more readers, and grow your audience based on someone else’s, but you will probably get a few additional sales.
-
Interview influencers on your website
Influencers have a gigantic ego, that doesn’t fit in their chest, and that’s why, when they are interviewed, they can’t help but link to that interview from both their blog and their social networks.

And that’s very positive for you, as, in addition to a gigantic ego, influencers often have a large number of followers, who will be delighted to flock to your website to read the interview you did with their guru.
-
Create a post of expert opinions
This type of post is the evolved form of interviews with influencers. In the previous case, we mentioned that you could benefit from the huge number of followers that a particular influencer has. With this other method, you will be able to benefit from the followers of several influencers at the same time.
Basically, you have to ask several influencers for their opinion on a topic, and then gather all that information in a large post and present the information attractively.
Finally, inform all the influencers who participated, and they will be delighted to link you and promote you on their social networks… Imagine the huge amount of visits you will receive!
-
Make reviews of products and companies
Another good way to get visits is through reviews of products and companies. Subsequently, you can notify those companies that you have analyzed their products (or the company itself), and they will likely be delighted to talk about it on their networks and on their blog.
That said, don’t try to portray all companies and all products as something tremendously useful and very interesting. Be honest and sincere. Otherwise, you won’t have any credibility and the strategy won’t work.
-
Create a webinar
Creating a webinar can be a very smart idea. People are delighted to move from boring texts to videos, and from videos to videos where, in addition, there can be interaction.
Here, the smartest thing is that you organize the Webinar a week in advance (for example), and encourage people to invite their friends, and you do good promotion. You will be surprised at the success you can achieve with a Webinar.
On the other hand, if this system works well for you, you could opt to do a monthly Webinar, for example. This will allow you to gain a good amount of traffic, create a name for yourself in the sector, have content, and, in addition, you will learn to explain things (so that in the future, you could create a paid course).
-
Help people find jobs
This technique is quite curious, and I’ve realized that it works extremely well. In today’s world, there are many people without jobs, but with very interesting skills. The problem is that they don’t know where to go or what to do to get paid for them.
We, on the other hand, have a fairly interesting network of contacts, and we always have someone we know who is looking for a job in something specific.
If we combine these two elements, it can be a very smart option to mention on the blog or on social networks that you have an acquaintance looking to hire, for example, a graphic designer.
When people realize that you help your community even find jobs, they will be delighted to be part of it, causing it to grow in quantity and quality.
-
Create a forum on your website
We have already said before that forums are not in their best moment, but, however, they still hold great importance. It wouldn’t be smart not to use them. If you can create a forum on your website, it can be very beneficial for getting traffic.
Why? Because people don’t just seek to read, but they also want to participate, and comments on a blog are not always the best way to do so. Therefore, having a forum can attract people who otherwise wouldn’t visit your site.
Getting traffic from other sites
There’s nothing wrong with taking advantage of other sites to get traffic, as long as it’s done honestly and intelligently. In most cases, both of you will benefit, so you don’t have to worry about whether you’re doing it right or wrong. Look at the following ideas:
-
Be interviewed
A good way to get traffic is by being interviewed by someone in the sector. Thanks to this, you can achieve a good amount of traffic from their audience, who will be curious to know more about you.
That said, to get interviewed, you must have built a certain reputation and authority in the sector. Otherwise… who would want to interview you?
-
Comment on relevant blogs
Commenting on relevant blogs in your sector is a good way to build a reputation in the sector. Additionally, most of those blogs allow leaving links, so even though they are usually nofollow, you will still be able to receive an additional amount of visits.
-
Do a webinar on another website
We have already given some ideas on how to take advantage of the audience of other websites. This time, you can do it in a more original way, with a webinar.
The advantage of a webinar is that people are more interested in letting you “take advantage” of their audience, when what you offer is something interesting, and a webinar is.
To apply this technique, I recommend looking for websites that, although they are not the most recognized in the sector, do have active communities and important email lists. And, of course, create a webinar of extremely high quality.
-
Be interviewed in a round of expert opinions
Just like in the case of being interviewed, you need to have generated authority and reputation. However, once you have it, it can be a very interesting option to attend or participate in one of those rounds of expert opinions.
It may not give you as much traffic as in the case of a dedicated interview, but it will undoubtedly bring you additional visits.
-
Send your website to website (and content) aggregators
There are several websites that specialize in aggregating other websites and their content. It’s somewhat similar to what we mentioned earlier about sending content to Menéame and similar sites, but using more generalist aggregators, which list complete websites instead of specific articles.
-
Tell your story using someone else’s product
Another good way to get some additional traffic is by sharing your experience using a product or service from a particular brand. If you do it interestingly, that brand may be delighted to link to your experience.
Another way to carry out this strategy is to send them an email to directly publish your experience on their blog. This is a bit more complicated, but if you succeed, in addition to traffic, you can get a good link from the brand’s website.
-
Sell your product in marketplaces
If you sell physical products from your website, don’t limit yourself to doing it only from there. Use the different existing marketplaces, such as Amazon or eBay, and, with the shipment, add a card where you include the links to your website.
On the other hand, if you sell services or infoproducts, don’t hesitate to offer some demos in marketplaces (for example, if you offer a course on your website, you can offer a demo on Coursera) or the complete service in a special Marketplace (for example, a graphic design service on Fiverr).
In those marketplaces you have places to place your links and, with that, attract traffic to your website while having the possibility of earning some additional euros.
-
Create an eBook and present it on Amazon
If you are a person who likes to write and has something to say (and when you have a blog, it’s to be expected), you can write an eBook and publish it on Amazon.
Not only will it allow you to make some money from sales, but it will also allow you to get known (since many people who don’t know your blog do frequent the book section on Amazon), and get some additional links.
-
Register your physical business (if you have one) on Yelp, Foursquare, etc.
If you have a physical presence somewhere, it’s advisable to use apps like Yelp or Foursquare to register the place where you are. Not only will you get more customers, but you will also be able to link to your website and, in this way, get more traffic.
-
Do guest posting that adds value.
Guest posting is probably one of the best ways to get additional traffic. It’s not easy for good blogs to allow you to write on them, but if you have quality articles and something relevant to say, you can achieve it without any problem.
Remember, however, that when doing guest posting, the most important thing is to never reserve the best content for your own website, but to use it on the other person’s website. This way, readers will be surprised, and they will visit your website to discover what other content you are offering.
By the way, we are open to receiving guest articles. We have already published this post by David Ayala on our blog.
-
Offer a special demo of your product to other companies
Many companies are delighted to try out other products to see if they are interesting and useful for their community. If that’s your case, you can receive not only a large amount of traffic and customers but also powerful dofollow links.
This is the case, for example, of Moz, which offers different services to its clients, with discounts and promotions. Those other services are receiving visits, customers, and links from Moz easily.
-
Buy someone else’s subscriber list
This may seem a bit scandalous, but the truth is that it can be done without any problem. To do this, what you have to do is look for a website that has been abandoned, but that, in the past, had authority and activity.
You can contact the person who managed it and, if the website has definitely died, tell them that you are willing to buy their subscriber list. Depending on the type of person they are, they will be happy to negotiate the price with you.
That said, if you are going to use this technique, don’t hesitate to look for a website related to yours and, once you have the new list, in the first email, explain what happened and who you are… Otherwise, what a surprise!
-
Do cross-promotion with another website
This method is easy to carry out but effective. Simply look for websites of your same theme that have an audience of a similar size to yours, and propose to them to promote some of their content, in exchange for them doing the same.
The advantage of this method is that not only do you get a good amount of traffic, but also that traffic is of high quality, and you create a new contact in the sector that can help you in the future.
-
Automatically publish your content on other websites
There are many websites that function as automated content aggregators, where you can “syndicate” your content so that every time you update it, those other websites promote it automatically.
It’s not that you get great results from it, but it hardly requires work and slightly benefits you in terms of SEO, so it would be unwise not to take advantage of the opportunity.
-
Chop your content and publish it on Medium
Medium is a site that is halfway between content syndication and guest posting. The advantage is that you can chop your content and link to your website from the different pieces you publish there.

The problem, as in other cases, is that it’s in English, so your content, if it’s in Spanish, won’t receive as many visits.
-
Re-publish your content on secondary blog networks
There are many networks of secondary blogs that can help you promote the content for a second time, once you have already used and squeezed it on your main blog. For example, Tumblr.
Simply, those contents you have already used can be republished on Tumblr, and gain some additional traffic thanks to the activity generated there. It’s a smart way to make the most of every piece of content you create.
-
Create a page on Wikipedia
Another way to obtain traffic is through Wikipedia. However, it’s important to note that it’s not easy to create a page on Wikipedia. It’s most likely that, once created, it will be deleted unless it’s about something truly relevant.
In any case, if you create a page on Wikipedia, you will be able to link to your own website, and that is pure gold. Not only will it help you get traffic, but even if it’s a nofollow link, Google values it very positively, as it comes from a highly authoritative website.
-
Add your articles as references on Wikipedia
Another more subtle option that tends to work better when “hacking” Wikipedia is to look for those articles where references are needed. If you find a Wikipedia page that deals with your theme and see that it lacks a reference, you can place a link to one of your contents there.
If you don’t have content related to that specific aspect being discussed on the Wikipedia page… don’t worry! You can opt to create that content ad hoc to create the link.
Getting traffic through products
The products you create or are part of, whether as a developer or as an investor, can also bring you a good amount of traffic. For that reason, below, we give you some tricks to exploit this possibility.
-
Create an App
Creating an App can be a smart way to get traffic. However, we won’t say it’s an easy way to achieve it, because it’s not (unless you want to create a shoddy App).
In any case, if you create a useful app for some specific topic related to your theme, you will be able to link from the app to your website, and achieve a stable flow of interesting traffic.
-
Create a browser extension
Creating a browser extension can be easier than developing an App, and the effects can be similar, as long as you offer something useful to the community. If you can’t develop it yourself, you might consider hiring a programmer. Perhaps the investment will pay off.
-
Install Discover
Have you seen those plugins that add, at the end of articles, a space that says “You may also be interested in…” and links to other related articles? Well, Discover takes that to the next level.
What Discover does is take that idea but apply it to different blogs. Thus, if you install Discover, a person browsing another blog that also has it installed can receive a recommendation to read one of your articles.
Without a doubt, a very interesting plugin that will allow you to achieve a greater amount of traffic and is very positive for karma 2.0… you receive traffic and send it!
-
Create a course on Udemy
A very simple way to get traffic is through Udemy. The biggest problem here is to seem knowledgeable enough in a topic for people to sign up for one of your courses.

However, once you achieve it, you will be able to promote your website both in the classes and in the descriptions.
-
Create a course with Teachable
Another option, similar to the previous one, is to create a course with Teachable. Thanks to this option, you can create the same course but host it directly on your website, so the profits will be 100% yours.
The problem, however, is that it will be more difficult for you to get traffic since Udemy, being more well-known, will bring you visits naturally without you doing anything.
-
Create a course with CreativeLive
A third option in this area is to create a course on CreativeLive. The problem here is that CreativeLive has much more demanding filters than Teachable or Udemy.
If you want your course to go hand in hand with CreativeLive, you need it to be a really powerful course, of very good quality, and that provides the best value. In return, you will receive a good amount of traffic, as they themselves take care of promoting your course.
Getting traffic from your newsletter
It’s likely that you have a list of emails. In that case, the first step is to grow it, but the second, and most important, is to use it correctly. Below, we give you some tips on how to use your newsletter to get traffic.
-
Notify that you have published new content
This is one of the most obvious things, but we can’t forget to mention it. If you have a newsletter with quite a few people, you shouldn’t forget to send an email every time you publish content, so they can all visit your website to see what you are talking about this time.
However, if you have a very active editorial calendar, it may be advisable to send an email once a week with the different published content, so as not to saturate your audience.
-
Ask your subscribers to recommend your newsletter
A good way to expand your newsletter and, thus, ensure that the previous point has much more success in the long run, is to ask your current subscribers to recommend your newsletter.
Surely each of your subscribers has at least one person interested in the topic. You won’t get all of them to convince a friend of theirs, but if 10% succeed, and you have 10,000 subscribers, you will have gained 1,000 new subscribers easily.
-
Ask your subscribers what websites they frequent
Another interesting way to get traffic is by asking your subscribers what websites in your theme they visit. This way, you will be able to discover new websites that deal with topics related to what you address, and from there, try to network to do more guest posting or apply some of the techniques we have mentioned in this list.

This technique also works very well, although the title may seem a bit misleading. It’s
